Sausage And Peppers

Prep Time:

Cooking Time:

2 hours, 30 minutes

Serves:

6-8

Pot Size:

Ingredients

- 10 sweet Italian sausage links (cut into halves) - 3 large yellow onions (sliced) - 3 large red bell peppers (thinly sliced) - 3 large green bell peppers (thinly sliced) - 4 tablespoons onion powder - 3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil - Salt & Pepper to taste - 1 (15 oz) can San Marzano hand crushed tomatoes - 1 (8 oz) can Hunts tomato sauce (mixed with diced tomatoes) 1 cup of water

Preparation

Preheat your oven to 300°F. Cut the sausage in half and place them in a roasting pan. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, and season with salt, onion powder, and pepper. Add the sliced onions and peppers on top. Pour the crushed San Marzano tomatoes and tomato sauce over the sausage and veggies, followed by the cup of water. Drizzle with more olive oil. Cover with tin foil and cook for 2 hours. Then, uncover and cook for an additional 30 minutes, turning occasionally to brown all sides of the sausage. NOTE: For the best results, remember: low and slow is the way to go! Serve it up on a lengthwise roll for a savory sandwich or enjoy it as a hearty main dish. Either way, it’s a feast for the senses!
